Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. An elegant necklace of a wearable form comprised of dozens of hand-carved carnelian and stone beads. The beads are strung in a mirrored style along both sides with cylindrical, seed, conical, discoid, and rectangular beads alternating with one another, and a trapezoidal pendant is suspended in the middle between a pair of stone discs. Strung in modern times and capped with a silver-plated loop and lobster clasp combo, this is a wonderful example of Roman art meets modern fashion! Size (necklace): 24" L (61 cm); (largest bead): 0.5" W (1.3 cm)
