An exquisite and well-preserved carnelian intaglio featuring the left-facing portrait of a bearded man, perhaps a philosopher or scholar. The piercing gaze is situated below a light coiffure and above a slender nose, and 3 white inclusions in the stone atop the beard provide the appearance of being elderly. Situated in a modern 98.72% gold ring, this is an attractive accessory made to be worn! Size (intaglio): 0.37" L x 0.29" W x 0.13" H (0.9 cm x 0.7 cm x 0.3 cm); (ring setting): 0.47" L x 0.78" W x 0.79" H (1.2 cm x 2 cm x 2 cm); gold quality: 98.72% (equivalent to 22K+); weight: 2.8 grams; US ring size: 4.25
