Description:

Ancient Near East, Holy Land, Roman Imperial to early Byzantine Empire, ca. 1st to 8th century CE. A lovely pair of wearable earrings, each comprised of six ancient carnelian and glass beads. The bottom portion is strung with a rectangular mosaic bead comprised of white, blue, green, yellow, and red canes arranged to create a checker pattern. Small golden glass seed beads flank the top and bottom of the mosaic bead. The upper finding contains two carnelian stone beads with vermillion hues and a semi-translucent yellow lozenge-shaped glass bead. The beads are strung in modern times on modern gold-plated findings and ear hooks that make these ancient beads wearable! Size earring: 2.5" L (6.4 cm); square bead: .437" L x .375" W (1.1 cm x 1 cm)
