Description:

Late Roman or early Byzantine Empire, ca. 500 to 800 CE. A fine cast-copper alloy ladle and a bronze oil lamp with a lunate symbol. The ladle consists of a round, deep bowl and indentations creating fluting around the body, and the handle has pronged tips riveted to the rim. The oil lamp has a lunar crescent handle at the rear and the main form is comprised of a round body with an extended spout, upon a ring foot. Size (ladle): 7.25" L x 2.5" Diameter x 1.2" H (18.4 cm x 6.4 cm x 3 cm)

  • Condition: Both are intact and very good. Minor surface wear and abrasions as expected with age and use. Heavy green patina and mineral deposits.
