Roman Empire, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. Lovely bronze statuette of Jupiter (known by Zeus to the Greeks who "invented" this god). Jupiter was the god of the heavens and earth and the head honcho of the Roman gods. He is shown holding a lightning bolt in his right hand, left hand raised once holding spear. He sports a bushy beard, and long flowing hair, nude save a cloak over his left shoulder. Custom base. Size: 2-1/2" H.
