Titus, a member of the Flavian dynasty, ruled for a brief but dramatic time: he was the emperor who completed the Colosseum, and gave generously to relieve the suffering caused by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 CE and a fire in Rome in 80 CE. He died of a fever in 91 CE and was deified by the Roman Senate.
