Description:

Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A matched pair of miniature cast bronze statues depicting prisoners, each wearing a tunic, leggings, and, most distinctively, a Phrygian cap. They are seated, their legs and arms bound, their faces downcast. On Trajan's column, the Dacian prisoners wear Phrygian caps, while Parthian prisoners wear them on the 2nd century Arch of Septimius Severus - these sculptures probably echo those representations, and indicate that the prisoners are from the borders of the Roman Empire. Size of one: 0.95" W x 2.15" H (2.4 cm x 5.5 cm); 2.45" H (6.2 cm) on included custom stand.
