Description:

Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st century CE. A beautiful and delicate bronze olpe with a foliate handle that flows sinuously down to the mid-body and ends in a leaf motif applied to the side of the vessel. A slightly flared rim with an attached and thickened decorative edge that flows down into the handle gives it a unique look. This is an olpe, with a tall, strap-like handle, and a smooth profile. It has a very broad rim and was made to pour wine - but this one may have been made simply to grace a tomb inside a Roman cemetery. Size: 5.6" W x 7.5" H (14.2 cm x 19 cm)
