Description:

**Originally Listed At $600**

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fine cast-bronze votive figure of a young man with a toga draped over his head and body. The toga had begun to fall out of fashion in the late 1st century BCE, so the Emperor Augustus made it an unofficial state dress, reviving the ancient look. Togatus figures come in many varieties, and votive figures of a smaller size like this example were perhaps made for a personal shrine or altar. Size: 1.4" W x 3.1" H (3.6 cm x 7.9 cm); 5.4" H (13.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-private J.P. collection, Melbourne, Florida, USA
