Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A gorgeous and wearable bronze ring with a slender shank and an ovoid face surrounded with a modern 14K+ gold border. Atop the face is an incised depiction of a striding ibex with thin legs, a tone body with a bushy tail, and a tapered head with a narrow snout and a pair of projecting horns. Mottled patina in green, brown, and russet hues has formed across the ring and imbues it with a fine presentation. Amethyst fragments for photography purposes only. Size (ring): 0.875" W x 1" H (2.2 cm x 2.5 cm); size (face w/ ibex): 0.8" L x 0.7" W (2 cm x 1.8 cm); quality of gold: 14K+; total weight: 7.1 grams; US ring size: 10.25.

  • Condition: Wearable as shown. Bronze ring is ancient, and gold border is modern. Ring band reattached at terminals beneath ovoid face, with minor chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Light fading to incised ibex, with minor abrasions to gold border. Wonderful mottled patina throughout.
