Description:

Ancient Art. Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A cast bronze bowl with steep walls, standing on a round foot, with three iron chains, each with a long solid iron bar, attaching to a bronze chain and an iron hook at the top. The bowl itself is gorgeous, with an incredible dark, lustrous, green patina on its exterior. This may have been used part of a scale or balance, perhaps one used in ritual. Size: 3.8" W x 11" H (9.7 cm x 27.9 cm); 12.95" H (32.9 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection acquired before 2000
