Description:

Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A charming cast-bronze figurine depicting a gladiator in a striding pose atop an integral ovoid plinth. The figure wears armored greaves on his legs, a wide belt around his waist, stippled wrappings around one arm and half of his chest. Small openings on each hand suggest he at one time held additional armaments like a sword and shield, and atop his head he wears a double-crested helmet with a flared neck guard below. This figurine was perhaps created as a child's plaything. Size: 0.8" W x 2.125" H (2 cm x 5.4 cm); 2.4" H (6.1 cm) on included custom stand.
