Rome, ca. 1st - 3rd century CE. A cast bronze left foot from a lifesize statue of a god or emperor. Five life sized toes with the "ideal Greek" pinky toe. Hollow undersize indicated the figure was seated and not standing. Beautiful green patina. 5-1/2"L. Cf. the fragment of a right foot in the Antikensammlingen, Munich, inv. no. 3183, illustrated in Michael Maas, "Probleme der Formtechnik und Serienfertigung," in Toreutik und figurliche Bronzen romischer Zeit (Berlin, 1984), fig. b, pg. 162.
