Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A fine cast-bronze depiction of an eagle perched atop a tiered, three-footed base. The avian figure stands atop slender delineated legs with its chest puffed out, its wings resting along its back with one tip folded atop the other, and a petite head turned slightly to the left with an aquiline beak. Covered in thick, lustrous layers of green and russet patina, this is a wonderful example from the early Roman Empire! Size: 2.25" H (5.7 cm).
