Description:

Rome, 1st to 2nd century CE. This is the flat circular cast of a Roman bronze mirror with an incised edge and incised with concentric circles. This would have originally had a mirrored surface, possibly of silver or of mercury. This mirror fits perfectly into the palm of the hand. This piece is very similar to pieces published in Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Bronzes in the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, by M Comstock & C Vermeule, MFA 1971, nos. 398-400. Size: 5" in diameter (12.7 cm).
