Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A petite leaded bronze head of a female, finely cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process. Perhaps depicting a goddess or a muse, the woman looks ahead with her delicate features framed by a centrally parted coiffure that is crowned by a crested diadem. A veil falls to her shoulders and a collar or diadem graces her chest. A lovely form with beautiful emerald green and russet red patina. Size: 1.25" L x .75" W (3.2 cm x 1.9 cm)

Provenance: ex-Davis collection, Houston, Texas, acquired before 2013 from various auction houses in London and New York
