Description:

Rome, ca. 100 BCE to 300 CE. This is a small bronze statue of Apollo, one of the most important gods in the Roman pantheon. He represented the ideal of the beardless, athletic youth and is known as the god of poetry, art, music, knowledge, and, in later times, the Sun. Here he is depicted standing with his hair long. Size: 0.8" W x 2.5" H (2 cm x 6.4 cm).

Provenance: Ex-private M. Reniger collection, Chicago, IL.
