Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A hefty cast-brass medallion of a circular form with a lightly-grooved border surrounding a stylized human face in repousse. The face depicts that of a youthful male - perhaps a deity such as Eros - with elegant almond-shaped eyes, a petite nose, full cheeks, a bulbous chin, and petite lips, all beneath a shaggy coiffure. Fine sage-green patina envelops the entire medallion, and a small, upturned iron attachment pin projects from the verso. Size: 2.25" Diameter (5.7 cm); 3.375" H (8.6 cm) on included custom stand.
