Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A beautiful Roman intaglio carved from wine-hued amethyst depicting a standing, right-facing gladiator. The imposing warrior wears a characteristic domed and crested helmet while holding a pelt in his right hand and a bulbous object in his left, perhaps a decapitated head of an opponent. The ovoid intaglio is set within a form-fitting bezel atop a slender circular shank. A wearable ring that is sure to accentuate any outfit! Size (ring): 0.7" W x 0.8" H (1.8 cm x 2 cm); (intaglio): 0.35" L x 0.3" W (0.9 cm x 0.8 cm); quality of silver: 87%; total weight: 2.5 grams; US ring size 5.25
