Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A petite earring formed from a foil sheet of 93.6% gold (equivalent to 22K+). The lozenge-shaped accessory features a hollow body with a carinated midsection and one terminal that tapers gradually to form the lengthy, integral ear wire. A modern 14K gold ear wire is attached to the original wire for comfort and wearability. Size: 0.8" W x 1.2" H (2 cm x 3 cm); 1.6" H (4.1 cm) with included ear wire; gold quality: 93.6% (equivalent to 22K+); total weight: 3.1 grams.
