An ancient Roman 75% gold (equivalent to 18K) ring housing a striking carnelian intaglio that is finely carved with the profile visage of a bearded god, perhaps Jupitor (Greek Zeus), with a laurel wreath in his hair. Size (ring): 0.75" W x 0.9" H (1.9 cm x 2.3 cm); (intaglio): 0.4" L x 0.3" W (1 cm x 0.8 cm); quality of gold: 75% (equivalent to 18K); total weight: 3.1 grams; US ring size 3.5.

Provenance: private Dere family collection, NYC, NY acquired in the 1980s/1990s.
