Description:

North America, Adirondack region, Ticonderoga, ca. 1773 CE. This is a pike that was deacquisitioned from the Fort Ticonderoga museum. It is hand forged and mounted on a wooden pole. The design is French. The events that occurred at Fort Ticonderoga helped shape the United States and changed world history. A brief listing of those who passed through Ticonderoga reads like a veritable who's who of the Revolutionary War era, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, Ethan Allen, and James Madison -- and the evacuation of the fort led Alexander Hamilton to discover that Benedict Arnold was a British spy. In addition to these statesmen and luminaries, let's not forget the thousands of fighting men and common citizens from America, Canada, France, Britain, Germany, and beyond who toiled upon the shores and waters of Lake Champlain at Ticonderoga, and often gave their lives. Size: 48" L (121.9 cm).
