Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Recuay culture, ca. 500 BCE. A hand-built pottery vessel depicting a 'pretty lady' adorned in striking patterns as she presents a petite kero with both hands. Her belt showcases a pair of abstract saurian creatures in confrontation between bands of black checkerboard motifs atop the cream-hued body. Additional zigzags and diamonds adorn the veil flowing atop the tall visage as a pair of tassels rest atop her shoulders and upper chest. A tall spout behind allows liquid to be contained with ease. Size: 6" L x 5.375" W x 8.3" H (15.2 cm x 13.7 cm x 21.1 cm)

Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection, acquired from 2000 to 2010; ex-private Misenhimer collection, Hollywood, California, USA
