Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Olmec / Zapotec culture, ca. 500 to 300 BCE. A rare and fascinating pottery bowl with a hemispherical shape, rounded but stable base, and protruding tabs that turn this vessel in a fish effigy. The tab shaped tail and fins protrude from the sides, a rounded head with an incised eye, and a mouth opposite the tail. Size: 4.25" Diameter x 1.75" H (10.8 cm x 4.4 cm); 6" H (15.2 cm) on included custom stand.
