Pre-Columbian, northern Mexico, Zacatecas (Chalchihuites/Alta Vista/Chichimeca), ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. A pretty bowl with anthropomorphic and zoomorphic iconography on its interior and a grey burnished exterior. A thin, dark red ring marks the border on both the interior and the exterior. The interior contains four fantastic red and white creatures with triangular heads, huge eyes, and open mouths full of long teeth. Their bodies blend together; their heads are separated by burning sun symbols. Size: 9.1" W x 2.2" H (23.1 cm x 5.6 cm)
