Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Northern Europe, Viking/Norse culture, ca. 800 to 1100 CE. A pretty cast bronze needle case, openwork and in the form of a flattened bottle. The sides have open hatching. The interior is filled with moss to keep needles in place. Both bone and metal needles were common in the Viking period, and different sizes and needles were required for different tasks. This case would have helpfully kept all of those together in a single place. Size: 0.95" W x 2.7" H (2.4 cm x 6.9 cm)
