Description:

Northern Europe, Viking/Norse culture, ca. 800 to 1100 CE. A cast bronze belt buckle in the form of a standing human figure, its head just an open frame with a short prong across it. The body has raised arms that reach up to touch the sides of the head, with wide hands shown palm out being the most detailed part of the depiction - each finger delineated. A loop on the lower part of the figure was used to hook the strap. Two small loops project from the back of the buckle, allowing it to be sewn onto a garment. Size: 1.25" W x 1.55" H (3.2 cm x 3.9 cm)
