Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Valdivian or Chorrera culture, ca. 4000 to 300 BCE. A huge pendant, hand-carved from shell, with a zoomorphic face on one side. The shell is a creamy grey color on its uncarved side, and a brilliant red/orange on its carved side. It has been drilled through laterally for suspension. An abstract, heart-shaped face has been incised from the surface and given two drilled eyes and a small drilled mouth. A border has also been incised around the edges of the front side of the piece. Comes with custom stand. Size: 0.45" L x 2.75" W x 2.2" H (1.1 cm x 7 cm x 5.6 cm); height on stand: 3.7" (9.4 cm)
