USA, White River Badlands, South Dakota, Chadron Formation, Oligocene Period, ca. 37.5 to 32 million years ago. This rare Brontops sp. molar tooth is an extremely fine quality example of this magnificent giant beast of the Oligocene. The complete root is present with a portion of the jaw bone still attached. This tooth is from an animal from a family of extinct mammals that is related to horses, tapirs, and rhinoceroses. Size: 2.5" L x 1.5" W (6.4 cm x 3.8 cm)

High grade teeth such as this specimen are exceptionally rare and seldom offered for sale. Tooth roots have been repaired with cracks filled only. The crown is intact and natural in color and features. Color and enamel contrast is gorgeous and very well preserved.

Provenance: Purchased from a US collector in 2003, collected over 40 years ago.
