Pre-Columbian, Bolivia, Tiahuanaco (Tiwanaku) culture, ca. 400 to 700 CE. A lovely and rare example of a petite bowl woven from thick plant fibers. The vessel features tall walls, a thick rim, and a shallow basin, all atop a circular foot. The exterior of the bowl exhibits a myriad of abstract geometric and linear motifs in hues of crimson and jet, and the inside of the basin is unadorned. Size: 6.375" W x 3.2" H (16.2 cm x 8.1 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Hans Juergen Westermann collection, Germany, collected from 1950-1960s
