Description:

Megiddo, modern day Israel, ca. 2100 to 1900 BCE. This is a bronze spear with a nice light patina with some pale blue elements and a narrow triangular blade at the end of a long cylinder that terminates in a hook. Tel Megiddo was located on the western side of a narrow pass along the trade route that connected Pharaonic Egypt and Assyria; as a result, it was the site of many major battles -- so it's no surprise that this weapon was found in that area! Despite a record of sieges and destruction, it was occupied for near 7000 years. Size: 11.15" L x 1.15" W (28.3 cm x 2.9 cm).
