Description:

Western Europe, probably England, France or Germany, ca. late 13th to mid 14th century. Very rare (we have found only 3 examples in the world) iron sword made for a youth, certainly the child of a wealthy lord. Oakeshott type XVIa sword with hand-forged iron blade with short thin fuller, 8-sided guard, slightly tapered grip and circular tiered pommel. Inside the fuller on each side is stamped a short Latin text - IN TE DOMINE (In you, Lord) - and below the text and on each side of the pommel are stylized crosses. Size: 26.25" L x 5.375" W (66.7 cm x 13.7 cm)

Tested for metal analysis and authenticity by Dr. Gerry McDonald at Gerry McDonald Archaeometals, Wales and Artemis Testing Lab, Louisville, Colorado with report provided to purchaser. Comes with custom magnetic wall mount.
