Description:

Spanish Colonial, Alto Peru (Bolivia), ca. late 18th to early 19th century CE. A pair of magnificent Spanish Colonial solid high grade silver figural candelabras, finely cast and chased, boasting a beautiful design, the stems featuring a Spanish Colonial lord wearing lavish European garments and supporting a headdress with a floral motif with his right hand, the sinuous widespread arms/branches featuring writhing serpents with meticulously delineated scales and visages, these supporting three deep, cylindrical sconces with drip pans of a leafy foliage design. Impressive for their artistry, technique, and iconography. Quite substantial forms, weighing 6.2 pounds! Size: 11.25" W x 16.75" H (28.6 cm x 42.5 cm)
