Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Near East, Sassanian Empire, ca. 500 CE. Two seals in ring form, with wide drilled holes for suspension and flat faces with stamp seal designs. The bronze example has an abstract bull form; the other, made of a semi-translucent carnelian, has a stamp of a bearded man's head. This iconography must have had special symbolic meaning to their wearer. Size of largest (carnelian): 0.75" W x 0.4" H (1.9 cm x 1 cm)

Although seals are some of the most iconic forms left behind by this culture, most are of a rounded form with a small hole drilled through them; these ring forms are rarer.
