Ancient South Arabia, Yemen, ca. early first millennium BCE. An endearing terracotta maternal sculptural scene depicting a larger mother camel with an erect head and neck, a slight hump with a concave recess, standing above a baby camel - that also possesses a recess at the top of its single hump - facing the opposite direction and nursing. Both stand upon an integral plinth base. Their bodies are nicely modeled with balanced proportions in a realistic fashion. Size: 9.25" L x 8.75" H (23.5 cm x 22.2 cm)
