Description:

Roman, Britain, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A gorgeous cast-bronze fibula with a square body and four circular projections. A recessed cavity within the main body is set with eight white calcite stones surrounding a central ring, and cobalt-blue enamel fills the gaps in-between. Remains of the attachments for the fibula's original pin and clasp remain on the verso of two projections, though the majority of both components are missing. Covered in thick green patina, this is an exceedingly rare example of Romano-British fashion! Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 1.875" W x 1.875" H (4.8 cm x 4.8 cm); 2.125" H (5.4 cm) on included custom stand.
