Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A cast bronze attachment for furniture in the form of a rhinoceros head, with an impressively exaggerated horn projecting from its face. Delineation of fur, eyes, pointed ears, and a small crest of hair atop its head are delightful details by the skilled artist who created the mold. Romans were fans of exotic animals (just like us!) and rhinoceroses were frequently exhibited in Alexandria and Rome. Size: 2.1" W x 1.9" H (5.3 cm x 4.8 cm); 3.55" H (9 cm) on included custom stand.
