Eastern Greece, Anatolian (Phrygian), ca. 7th to 6th century BCE. An unusual polychrome askos with a squat lentoid body and a strap handle joining the flared spout to the shoulder, all upon a petite integral concave base. The upper vessel is extensively decorated with twin cross-hatched sections on opposite sides, followed by twin red bands flanked by black bands, and finally a central section of sinuous black motifs across the center and handle with a black band outlining the spout and the central red band wrapping around the lower end of the spout. Quite special! Size: 4.125" L x 3.375" W x 2.625" H (10.5 cm x 8.6 cm x 6.7 cm)
