**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Pachacamac culture, ca. 1000 CE. A lovely textile coca bag comprised of tightly-woven natural camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of rose, scarlet red, chocolate brown, yellow ochre, and black. One side of the bag features rows of repeating sharks with intimidating teeth and boldly delineated fins and tails alternating with endearing fish, and upper and lower borders of intriguing winged llama figures, each one facing to the left, with large wings, elongated heads, and angular limbs. The other side features standing deer with antlers proudly displayed along with turkeys. The coca bag has been opened down one side to fully display its imagery. A well-preserved example! Mounted on black fabric backing for presentation. Size: 16.5" W x 11" H (41.9 cm x 27.9 cm); 20.25" W x 14.75" H (51.4 cm x 37.5 cm) including fabric backing
