Pre-Columbian, Central Peru, Pachacamac culture, Ca 1000 CE. Rare textile divinity cloth used by oracles. Reds, greens, golds, white and brown showing spiders with two eyes, & one-eyed cyclopian arachnids. Shamans would supposedly allow spiders to run across the cloth and the direction they went predicted the future. How cool is that!!?? Nearly square at 28" by 27".

Provenance: Ex-private Hawaii collection, ex Hirsch collection acquired prior to 1960.
