Description:

North America, New Mexico, dated 1892. An antique sundial carved from brownstone with a face featuring a 6-pointed star in bas relief within a roundel at the center of the lower section of a perhaps hourglass-like form, inscribed with the year 1892 at the top, Arabic numerals along the peripheries to indicate the passing hours, and lines radiating from the site where the gnoman would have been placed. The sundial sits upon an integral angled foot. As the sun moved across the sky, the shadow cast by the gnomen would have aligned with the various hour-lines on the dial to indicate the time of day. Size: 9.5" L x 11.75" W x 16.25" H (24.1 cm x 29.8 cm x 41.3 cm)
