Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Peru, Nazca, 400 to 700 CE. This is a kero (drinking cup) made of wood by the Nazca. It is decorated with delicate painted crested white herons of varying sizes. Nazca wooden artifacts are rare. The kero would have been used for drinking chicha, a fermented corn beer that was important in ceremonial toasts. Size: 4.2" W x 4.6" H (10.7 cm x 11.7 cm).
