Description:

Pre-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Mixtec people, ca. 1200 to 1500 CE. An incredibly rare copper pendant of the god Tlaloc. It depicts the head of the god, surrounded by repeated spirals on either side of his head, with tall, spiky hair, and a human-like face with a large, open mouth. Large earrings are on either ear (one now partially lost). On the back is a loop for suspension. Tlaloc was the rain deity who had power over fertility and agriculture. Size: 1.2" W x 1.45" H (3 cm x 3.7 cm); 4.25" H (10.8 cm) on included custom stand.
