Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, ca. 600 to 1200 CE. A finely handbuilt terracotta female figure standing with fingered hands revealed beneath her rebozo. She presents a curvaceous figure - her voluptuous buttocks and ample hips sheathed by a gorgeous aqua blue painted skirt. She boasts a tranquil expression comprised of coffee-bean shaped eyes highlighted via white pigment, a protruding aquiline nose, and slightly parted lips. Her visage is adorned by large ear spools, a grand choker, and a headband presenting an incised leaf motif over her neatly coiffed hair - all these embellishments are also highlighted with bright white pigment. A beautifully modeled figure of a female whose fertility was highly valued in the Pre-Columbian world, replete with wonderful coloration and finely delineated details. Size: 5.5" H (14 cm)
