Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mayan Territories, probably Guatemala, ca. 500 to 800 CE. Incredibly rare and beyond fathomable to think of the effort it took to make this! Dark green jade painstakingly carved into the form of a conical bell. To one side of the bell a small flange rises above a vertical slit. This allows the stone to ring when lightly struck. Two small suspension holes allow this to be hung. An incredible and exceedingly rare example! Size: 1-3/4"H. Provenance: Ex-P. Haig collection, Rochester, MN All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. #109918
