Pre-Columbian, Mayan territories, probably Guatemala, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A rare Mayan openwork shell pectoral with incised decoration. Cut from thin clam shell section with key-hole cutout that frames the face of the seated lord. His features further adorned with incised lines, his hand extended and large headdress adorning his head. Rare to find! Custom stand. Size: 3.25" W x 3" H (8.3 cm x 7.6 cm), not including size of custom base.

Provenance: private R.D. collection, Long Beach, California, USA collection, acquired over 25 years from various major galleries.
