Description:

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan, Iron Age I-II, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A cast bronze axe head of dramatic form with a lengthy triangular blade, a zoomorphic head adorning the neck, and a quartet of stacked zoomorphic heads in abstract form to form the socketing shaft. Thick green patina has formed due to age, and the degree of preservation is admirable. Size: 7.2" L x 1.1" W x 3" H (18.3 cm x 2.8 cm x 7.6 cm)
