Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. 18th to early 19th century CE. Early and quite rare theater mask of carved deep brown wood. Expressive face with long rows of plaited hair, deep flames coming out of his eyebrows and from the sides of his mouth - an indication this is a demon from the underworld. Quite expressive!
