Description:

Greece, Cyprus, Middle Bronze Age, ca. 1950 to 1550 BCE. Truly a head-turner, a stunning polychrome askos, its body of an ovoid volume on a demarcated round base, with a bifurcated handle joining the pinched spout to the shoulder, the entire vessel extensively decorated in russet red and black hues on a cream ground, with a net pattern gracing either side of the handle and surrounding the quadrant-based compositions beneath the spout and the rear end of the handle. Special mention goes to the former as each quadrant of this composition houses an abstract flower motif with black dots (petals) surrounding a red center. Just lovely! Size: 4.625" in diameter x 4.375" H (11.7 cm x 11.1 cm)
