Description:

Greece, Classic Period to Hellenistic, ca. 500 to 200 BCE. A lot of 2 bronze astragaloi or knucklebones that were used by children and adults alike in a game akin to dice or jacks. In Roman times,the game was called Tali and was perhaps the most popular game played among the Romans. Originally, ankle bones of sheep were used which later gave way to knucklebones made of wood, ivory, glass, marble, terracotta, gold, silver and bronze. Size: 1.1875" L x .75" W x .625" H (3 cm x 1.9 cm x 1.6 cm) for largest.
